Sofia Cervantes was named after the Greek word “sophia” meaning wisdom. True to her name, Sofia has been an astute pursuer of knowledge, which extends to her dance training. Currently, she is an 8th-grade student and resides in Rancho Cucamonga. She started her ballet training at age 3 through the City of Rancho Cucamonga. In December 2015, when she was 5 years old, she attended IPBA’s performance of The Nutcracker and was instantly smitten. The next month she enrolled in ballet at Inland Pacific Ballet Academy and has been attending dance classes at IPBA ever since. Sofia has performed in many of IPB’s productions of The Nutcracker and IPBA’s dance recitals since 2016. She has participated in IPBA’s Musical Theater program since 2016 and the Ensemble program since 2022 through the YAGP competitions, and IPBA’s Summer Intensive program in 2019, 2022, 2023, and 2024. Sofia has enjoyed performing in all of the shows with Inland Pacific Ballet, but her favorite is The Nutcracker, which she looks forward to all year long. Sofia also plays the baritone in her school band and enjoys baking, drawing, and learning French.
