Sophia Rea started dancing at the age of 2 and studied various forms of dance, including ballet, tap, and jazz. At 7 years old, she was in the audience of Inland Pacific Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker and fell in love with ballet. She was inspired by the smiles on the faces of the little bon bons as they emerged from Mother Ginger’s dress. She realized that ballet was the art form for her because she loved the thrill of being on stage and the feeling of letting her emotions draw out her best performance. She also enjoys collaboration with her fellow dancers and teachers.
Sophia started her focus on classical ballet training at Inland Pacific Ballet Academy at the age of 8. She has since performed in various productions of IPBA’s spring recitals, including Coppelia, Midsummer Night’s Dream, Swan Lake, The Little Mermaid, and Sleeping Beauty. She has also been cast in IPB’s annual production of The Nutcracker in numerous roles. In 2023, she auditioned and was accepted and attended the Joffrey Ballet NY Summer Intensive Program.
Sophia is mesmerized by ballet and believes that it is a lifelong journey. She loves the challenge of the training and the satisfaction of performing. She is also grateful for the opportunities that ballet will continue to give to her and those who help her pursue it.
