Sophia Rea started dancing at the age of 2 and has studied various forms of dance including Ballet, Tap, and Jazz. At age 7, while attending Inland Pacific Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker she gasped and was inspired as she saw the smiles on the faces of the little bonbons as they emerged from Mother Ginger’s dress When she said out loud “I want to be there” She realized that ballet was the art form for her. She loves the thrill of being on stage and the feeling of letting her emotions draw out her best performance. She also enjoys collaboration with her fellow dancers and teachers and values the friendships that blossom through their shared connection and passion of dance.
Sophia started her focus on classical ballet training at Inland Pacific Ballet Academy at the age of 8. She has since performed in various productions of IPBA’s spring recitals, including Coppelia, Midsummer Night’s Dream, Swan Lake, The Little Mermaid, and Sleeping Beauty. She has also been cast in IPB’s annual production of The Nutcracker in numerous roles. In 2023, she auditioned, was accepted and attended the Joffrey Ballet NY Summer Intensive Program. In 2024 following her slew of summer intensive auditions, Sophia was offered a scholarship to Joffrey Ballet but turned down so she may further hone her skills by attending the John Cranko Ballet New York Summer program instead.
Sophia is mesmerized by ballet and believes that it is a lifelong journey. She loves the challenge of the exercise and the satisfaction of performing. She is also grateful for the opportunities that ballet will continue to give to her and those who help her pursue it.
