Summer Showcase LilYpada
A showcase of work developed in Inland Pacific Ballet Academy’s 5-week Summer Intensive Dance Program including ballet repertoire and character dances. Dancers ages 7-17 from all levels of the program will present work.
LilYpada is a new original work that for the first time combines ballet and musical theater. This first workshop performance will introduce Liya, a young girl who must move with her family across the country, but longs to stay with her friends. In a fantastical dream she finds herself in the imaginary land of the LilYpas who are dancing butterflies. With the help of a cast of strange and comical creatures who share with her the values of respect, courage, kindness and love, she goes on a quest to overcome her fears and find her way home to friends and family. This work in progress includes original music, a book, and lyrics by Hugues Jocelyn Cano with choreography and staging by Zaylin Cano and Michael Milligan.
