K-12 Teacher Resources
Inland Pacific Ballet, in partnership with the RIMS – California Arts Project, has developed an educational study guide for use by teachers in K-12 classrooms. The study guide provides information and activities related to dance and the ballet story that can supplement classroom instruction either before or after seeing the ballet in person. Developed with support from the National Endowment for the Arts, our study guide is free to download and use by anyone.
For teachers outside of the southern California region wishing to use the study guide materials, please note that other ballets may use different librettos. IPB’s study guide is based on Inland Pacific Ballet’s librettos.
The Nutcracker Study Guide
This study guide, which aligns with California State Content Standards for Dance, California Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts and the California English Language Development Standards, allows teachers to choose classroom activities that best meet their needs and includes background information, a variety of specifically developed activities, and a list of available resources that can be used in the classroom before and after the performance.
For teachers outside of the southern California region wishing to use the study guide materials, please note that other ballets may use different librettos. IPB’s study guides are based on Inland Pacific Ballet’s librettos. Last Revised: 2013
